I don't think it's a secret that CTS roll the meiser blanks to meiser specifications - I've read that in several places but so what- they are unique and amazing quality in terms of finish and those who fish with them find the actions to their liking - I've only had a go with one which wasn't to my liking but I could sit and look at it for ages :)

He buys blanks from them.
He does get his blanks from Cts but they are his design though. Nice rods Doon, hope you enjoy.
Personally I got rid of all but one of my Meiser's and went with Burkheimers. If there's ever any probs with a section of your rod, they have the mandrels in shop and can roll the section without having to send in the broken section first.

Does he get them to roll them to his spec ?
Without wishing to kick off any old "debates" I am amazed that after going through the full custom build process you need to ask on here to find this information out Marc.

I would've thought the design, production and origin of the blank would've been made clear at the first step in the custom build process?

I love them. a touch of individuality ,nothing worse than the simms brigade turning up in the car park with all the same gear .
My next rod is gonna be a custom , defenently, 100%, or maybe a sage method:eek:
I can imagine how nice they both would look with a satin gold Tibor gulftream on them;)

I never asked about where the blanks came from - just stated my lengths and preferred action and stated the lines I mainly use . After having a shot of my mates and then hearing other good things about them I made the call . I remember something a few years ago about CTS and then I actually had a shot of a guys CTS rod he built himself on the Don one evening so I knew they were decent enough - I just admire the amount of work that went into building , wrapping etc . I still have my old 14 ft powerlite just incase ha ha !!!

I am glad that you have found your rod.. :)

Beautiful rods by the way!

I own three different Mieser series at the moment and my favorite is the MKS. It suits my casting stile and I cast my MKS with a smile all day long..

Actually I am selling my Highlander Classic to make room for another MKS.. :)

Nice rods but a bit too fancy for my liking. I will stick to my Bruce and Walkers with a more traditional finish. They also roll their own blanks as well. I have had a couple of rods made to my own specification and have been really pleased with them. Its always a pleasure doing business with Kay and Brian at B+W.

I know all about excellence of Bruce and walker - I still have an 11ft 3" and 14ft powerlite - they have also just modified the handle on a wee custom sage for me to make it thinner . So yes I would never rule out buying a Bruce and walker again - just wont be going hardy -loomis - sage - loop or guideline . Obviously bob meiser makes lovely rods and so far he has been a straight forward decent fella - if he can give me the same customer service Brian potter and kay at B&W have over the years he will be doing well !

I am sure that all salmon fisherman look for the perfect rod & there is certainly plenty to pick from. The price range is staggering & the advertising blurb endless & recommendations countless. I like the Meiser MKS in fact it is probably my favourite rod within my stable of rods. Simple advice chose your price range & then make sure you chose a line to match the rod, because that’s the important decision for it all to work. Origin of blank is none event after you have made your purchase. My reason for buying Meiser rod was poor service from major UK manufacturer.

Bob sent me a tailor made line to go with the rods .
Therein lies the truth of a good rod - many top class rods are dismissed because they have been matched to the wrong line (or wrong casting style). Get the correct combination and you will forever be happy until, that is, the latest nano silica homogenised polymer hits the street.;);)

Still think that BM creates some fine looking rods and for those who might be tempted with a CTS blank then here is the link. Fly Fishing | CTS
