Has anyone been using the Maxima ultra green nylon this season ? If so , I'm just wondering what's peoples thoughts on it ?

I use fluoro for 80% plus of my salmon fishing tippets. I tailor each leader set up to the style of fishing I do and often set up 4 rods for fishing in different ways, each tailored to a specific job. Overall fluoro tippets are better but they do not work in every application. Maxima is OK and has some useful qualities in some areas but its a very old idea in a modern world. To turn this around, given so many seem to have faith in one of the oldest still standing nylons around, why do people not use any of the other more modern leader/tippet materials?
Personally, although conversely, I use fluorocarbon as a leader for all my sea lure fishing (Bass/Polllock/Coalies/Wrasse) & CoPolymer for Trout I just can’t get the confidence to use them for Salmon/Sea Trout.
Ultimately if I lose a decent Bass I know it’s likely another will come along before the end of the Season, but every migratory fish hooked is so precious that I don’t want to be worrying about the final connection between fly line & fly.
Confidence is my raison.
I was given a couple of spools of Daiwa super shinobi copolymer 18lb which had the diameter of 12lb maxima I really liked it but by the time I was given them Daiwa had stopped making it so I just started using maxima again when I ran out of the super shinobiTo turn this around, given so many seem to have faith in one of the oldest still standing nylons around, why do people not use any of the other more modern leader/tippet materials?

Im the same and wouldnt use anything else but fluro for stillwater fishing. The takes drop considerably when using mono i rekon. I even use it for dries so it dosent sit on the surface as they spot it a mile off and turn away.I use flurocarbon for all my stillwater fishing (trout) but the price is getting ridiculous. Maxima do a decent fluro i think 180m spool I always grab a few when they are on offer, generally use the fulling mill masterclass stuff which I've found to be very good, but again pricey

Agreed mate, I "mud" down the leader to take any flash away from it, great fun with shipmans buzzers left totally static. Never tried the trilene stuff but have seen it, will grab some if it's decently priced,I generally fish 8lbs fluro for indicator fishing but bump it up to 10lbs if fishing a little deeper with a pair of lures, intermediate line olive apps worm on the dropper and a humongous black and gold on the point. A deadly combination 👍🎣Im the same and wouldnt use anything else but fluro for stillwater fishing. The takes drop considerably when using mono i rekon. I like the trielene stuff in the gold box, its not the thinnest but its abit stiffer for indicator fishing to avoid tangles.
I can tell there's something not quite right with your keyboard.Maxima - £4 per 100m, 'ZxyyXnoN XP4 Nano Fluorocarbon' (designed in Germany and made in Japan, jointly developed with NASA*) - £19 per 50 meters.
Salmon anglers reasoning process: Hmmm, clearly the ZxyyXnoN XP4 is far better, quite annoying that it's 10 times more expensive but I suppose it IS better. Since I just coughed up £1000 for a rod and spend £150 per day on the fishing I suppose it would be a false economy not to buy it. Besides, must be really good if I can't pronounce it.
* not that NASA, a different one
Absolutely, you would be marked as AAAAA target market (bombarded relentlessly) by Mighty Corporation and ..... carefully selected partners and third parties. If I took 2 would it increase the weight of my correspondence?
Mudding the leader makes a huge diffrence when fishing emergers i rekon. You see people fishing them that dont do it and the fish will cruise up then turn as soon as they spot it.Agreed mate, I "mud" down the leader to take any flash away from it, great fun with shipmans buzzers left totally static. Those top hats are absolutely deadly in a little bit of ripple I once had 16 in about an hour or so fishing no more than a couple of rod lengths at a local still water the pattern was a wicked white buzzer top hat probably a size 16 with a tiny bit of gink just on the top hat so it sat right in the surface film. Crazy sport when there onMudding the leader makes a huge diffrence when fishing emergers i rekon. I enjoy fishing cds or foam top hat emergers static. Only issue is that with cdcs, i take my eyes off them and forget where they are 😂
All sunk line fishing I use fluoro from the fly line. For wet fly I use a nylon tapered leader then a fluoro tippet. If I could ever be bothered/was desperate enough I would use it for nymphing too.For which applications are you using fluorocarbon?
Yea, knitsley mill on a summer evening can be crazy with emergers. Before we go further please can you tell me how carefully you have selected the 3rd parties who would now wish to communicate with me?Absolutely, you would be marked as AAAAA target market (bombarded relentlessly) by Mighty Corporation and ..... carefully selected partners and third parties.
Confidential information but rest assured very carefully selected, they have never failed to pay for customer details (in Bitcoin of course). Before we go further please can you tell me how carefully you have selected the 3rd parties who would now wish to communicate with me?
On a side note, as it happens I personally know the global distribution director for ZxyyXnoN products and he has let me acquire several 1000m spools of XP4 in various breaking strains. I would be very happy to run off 50m for you for £12.50 or a full 100m for the same price as the factory 50m spools. I would need to respool them on old spools though. Could we do some sort of deal involving your keyboard?
