Well I fished this morning at Ross. Afterall it would have been rude not to go on opening day! Water still a bit big for most places at Ross, but river otherwise looked good with visibility around 3-4ft. No sign of anything silver, but trout were active. Had one take a deep sunk tube fly, long distance C&R, and another that clearly over estimated the size of its belly.

It may of not been what you were hoping for, but at least you didn't blank.

Fished the Ross AC Weirend stretch this afternoon, Rich fished this morning. Just fished Tobies and Mors all the way down to the Bottom Pool which is quite a hike.
Couple of tugs and one hooked and lost at a place we locally call the Barrels. I think it may have been a ST which we sometimes get early season, the afternoon sun was in my eyes and it was 20 yards away, very silvery. It jumped about a foot out of the water and the hook fell out ,barbless hooks eh!
Other than that nothing that suggested silver tourists but a lovely day to be outside beats gardening hands down.

Quick question, what are Mors.

The thing I like about MORS spoons are they come in different weights for the same "footprint" size. The photo above shows from the left 10g, 12g, 14g and 19g all are MORS size 2 the difference is in the thickness of the spoon. So you can fish them at different depths. Unlike for instance Tobies which generally change size in all dimensions.

Thanks for the reply,
I've never heard of MORS spoons.
Do you think it would be worth me getting a couple.
In the current climate/situation I can't say you will do any better with MORS rather than other makes but they do have a different action and I like them. I also find that the light ones around the 10g weight are thin enough to be used paternoster style and will keep off the bottom in a good flow..

Cant see how they can avoid it, they are always saying how data driven they are?
The only data they want, as you and most of us know, is whether can they afford the salary bill for the next executive appointment they create.

There's no point stocking a river without removing the cause of the river's decline first and if you remove the cause salmon are perfectly capable of restocking themselves. There's no future in putting young fish into rivers full of chicken sh1t.

The returning adults breed all along the river and in the feeder streams and their young are born and live there for years - or try to. The whole river system needs to be pollution free to have half a chance.
