Yes it was pretty grim Saturday but on a positive note plenty of fish seen throughout Bigsweir.

maybe the couple of foot coming through the river from Tuesdays rain and another fresh tomorrow, along with the cooler weather for the next week or so might give a bit of a window of opportunity.

there was about a foot of extra water coming down the river from Tuesdays rain, more rain expected Thursday lets hope its substantially more. Quite a few fish showing at Bigsweir in Saturday (there was some colour in the water and the river was bouncing up and down a few inches) promises some better fishing but not if the river gets too high :)

How far does this awful brown algal bloom in the Wye extend? I fished last night in Ross AC waters for the first time in weeks hoping that the cooler temperatures and rain might have reduced it but no. The photo above I took yesterday at the canoe launch in Ross on Wye park and yesterday evening when I went fishing I could not see my feet when stood in 15 inch of water.

Is it any better above the Lugg and are they fishing in these conditions downstream at Wyesham and Bigsweir? Can't stand much more of this. I note that Goodrich have only 11 days booked up to the end of the season I presume these would be anglers who have no idea of the conditions.

Not sure about conditions above the lugg but I assume far too low for fish to run on this low water - and for what it’s worth below Monmouth is dirty either due to algae or run off from recent mini spates or both . Recent posts suggests it is also very poor at Ross

Wyesham picking up fish , I moved a good fish last night in the Little Run at UB but vis was about the same Trev , doesn’t look good , looks like the chlorophyll levels are dropping on the sondes so it may improve , looks like the big thunderstorms will be south of the main catchment but the lower brooks may get flash floods this afternoon

Evening all. some fish being caught at last some better news. What do you guys think in terms of tips/leaders given the temps and low conditions ? Full floaters or hovers/ intermediates ? [edit: spose the clarity is a big factor too, was just thinking traditionally we would fish full floaters in summer with smaller wet flies but these days it all seems to be sink tips or mini tubes being used]

better news as if lol Thunderstorms Friday and Saturday.

A Few fish being caught below Monmouth which is as it should be but the numbers are way way down.

Floating lines and small, heavy tubes to be fishing as soon as the fly hits the water and slow sink tips to fish the middle river lies, seems to be a good place to start.
