I think at the moment with the rain and sun we have had, that unless the banks are grazed, everywhere is going to be like that. Even if a work party is done nature immediately sets about trying to cover it all up.
Earlier in the year is the time to explore these different waters before the bank side growth gets going. So that by then you have decided the beats you want to fish, and most importantly where on the beat the key access points to the water are. Fortunately I know the beats I fish well, so the summer lush is of little consequence. Grass, Himalayan Balsam, etc although a nuisance, can be trodden down and I always have a folding pruning saw in my kit just in case. With local water I may also put a grass hook in the car.
I’m in a number of different clubs, and it is the same everywhere. Trying to organise and get people to work parties is a nightmare. People expect it to be done for them without being prepared to put in any effort.
Oh, and yes, I am and have been a PAAS member for 25 years, and during my early years visited many of their waters that were within day trip distance. But now I restrict myself to a handful I like, and as a consequence have got to know.

Yes lots of water on the Albert ticket but most of it is jungle warfare to even find the river, when you do you are too knackered to fish Albert seem just interested in carp ponds these days, the rivers are so neglected.
In my opinion they have too much water. Went and had a look at the Dee at Shocklach last week after dropping my daughter off in Chester. The access paths were unpassable and after an hour wondering around 2 foot high grass fields trying to find the river I gave up hahah. Winter might be ok but the Salmon season is finished then

Plenty of water to go at then, must be at least 50 miles of the Severn and tribs under PAAS control from Cressage to Newtown. Also you are within a comfortable drive of some of their Welsh waters for sewin, most notably the Dovey, Mawddach & Dysynni. Enjoy investigating all their beats to find your favourites.
Just try another river in my opinion, the Severn is just a sewage outfall these days. Shrewsbury weir produced just 10 fish last year
I joined this year, fished it twice but its not my cup of tea I am afraid. Dogs, people and no peace is not fishing for me. Wasted £50 joining
Fished today around Shrewsbury on PAAS water and the colour was horrid for low water. I am on the verge of giving up to be honest- too many hours spent for nowt, seen one fish fish since the start of the season.

Was out and about around Shrewsbury yesterday. Finished at the weir. Nothing touched or seen. River is low but looked nice, visibility good.
