This is the second Spartic trout I have caught since my local fishery started stalking them, I think they are a cross between an Artic Char and a brook trout but not sure?

I agree MCX, quite plain Jane for trouts or char. The one dubbed Tiger would start a thread filled with disagreement on the US forum as everyone has their own concept and of course they all know a "fisheries biologist" so it can get pretty sporty with the pictures and opinions.

I caught one strange looking Brook Trout many years ago before the term Tiger was applied widely among fishermen. I just figured it to be an odd fish and never raised a fuss. Here the Dolly Varden Char can be very plain in spring or if they have been to sea but come late summer into fall they become a handsome fish (males especially) as it's time to make the babies.

I caught this little fellow while fishing a Jock O' Dee looking for much larger trout years ago here.

I loosened my hold on his tail and he slipped back into the current. I've fished for over 50 years and began going west of the Rocky Mountains in 1981 and so have seen many rainbow & cutthroat variants in the years since then. Here in Alaska I've been at it 15 seasons and the only trouts in the whole place are rainbow / steelhead trout with some cutthroat along the Southern coastal areas. They vary widely in size, markings and overall pigmentation based on the watershed they are in but that fella there, I've not met his match for overall looks.
