There is a Finan Haddie that is filleted and cold smoked with green wood and peat. The real Arbroath Smokie is a whole small hot smoked haddock. I used to smoke a lot of Pollack, because I caught loads of them and rarely a haddock! Works very well.

I've not tried garlic in it, but I use it in pretty much everything else!
Maybe finny haddock could be a geordie/maccam/sand-dancer name (newcastle-sunderland-south shields) name- or then again boro (middlesbrough) But the only people i ever hear call it that were from them places,anywhere else - yella fish.
