Can any members give a good line rec for this rod, I am currently using wf 8and 9 lines. it works ok with the 9wt but 8wt is too light. I am fishing small rivers and was considering a spey line which I suspect the rod was designed for.

wf 8/9 single hand trout line are to light as you have said it needs a spey line or a shooting head snowbee 1d are good lines

I use a Century 8/9 spey line 38g and 9/10 short cut Guideline powertapers 36g on mine both work great for me.

I do like a heavier line on the rod though and many would opt more for lines of 30g.

One of my clients had this rod on the Dee with him last week. It was matched with a Guideline SC 8/9 shooting head which IMHO was too light for the rod.

Its a good little rod but I would agree with Dex_Evo's observations.

I had asked Hakan Norling the same question about what was the best line for this rod away back before Christmas, he gave me a couple of options.

Use a PT Triple D DH #8/9 approx 11.5 or 12m....or a #9/10 cut short to 10.5-11.5m.

Or if you want to keep it simple a PT ready 2 go #8/9 short cut line.

Use 35lbs Compline as a running line.

Tks , my local tackle shop who dont stock the rod are recommending the Rio Afs spey line 28-32 grammes, sounds like this could be on the light side from the advice here

I have tried powertapers of 31g on mine and can do nothing with it.

If I was buying AFS heads it would be the 8/9's @ 34g

I use a Snowbee 1D with this rod and its a perfect match. if you want to use sink tips cut 3 to 4 feet of the front taper.

I use the Airflo Delta Spey 8/9 floater on this rod and it balances perfectly.
Works well with sinking polyleaders on the end too.
