Wee day out

Low water , no fish , and no spinning fly only can only mean one thing for the wee boy???

Sea fishing it is !!!!
It’s hard enough to get the young ones interested in fishing as it is with no fish and rules and regulations that just seem to be against any young person to learn to fish never mind the cost.
Lucky for me my wee boys addicted !!!
Great day out and a few fish home for the dinner
Beats sitting in front of a computer all day and night . Couple hours out digging the day before for bait and he’s knackered away to his bed next morning up like a flash at 5.15 raring to go …..mum says he never gets up to go To school like that 🤣

Bait digging

This is also Alfie’s favourite play time !!!

then on to patiently waiting for a bite

Then first fish in the pail !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy boy

few hours later it’s with 10 keepers in the pail and numerous amounts of cod , wrasse and pouting also caught and released It’s home for tea .
And what better dinner to have than same day caught cleaned and cooked cod n chips !!!!!! Even mummy was happy !!!!!!!
Great day out and happy family surely that’s what it’s all about
Sorry it’s no a salmon story but ………there’s always next time

I used to love taking the bairns off Arbroath for the cod and mackerel.
Here’s an old pic. Must be near 10 years ago.
He’s 18 next month and 6’3”

Well done Timmins, days like that will be remembered by all participants for years to come.
Definitely better than sitting in front of a computer screen.
Some good bait digging, it appears that the spaniel enjoyed it as well :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely brilliant thread, thanks for posting. It reminded me of being a little boy sea fishing with my dad. Bait digging the day before was nearly as exciting as the fishing and the fresh bait always out fished those fishing frozen. Then up whilst it's dark to travel to the jetty to meet the boat. Brilliant. I remember my first trip like it was yesterday, dad took me out of school aged 8 to fish off Walnley Island over the mussel beds for plaice. I won the kitty with a belter of a plaice at 3lb 12oz, it had just spawned and the skipper said it could have been 5lb prior to spawning. That was 42 years ago and sadly Dad and Gramps are long gone but they left me a legacy i am handing onto my son's. Your thread brought all those happy memories back so thank you.

The fundamentals in life !!!!
Bobbies only 8 and thinks it’s just a bit of exciting fun with his dad like his dad and his papa and his dad before him etc………. But really it’s one of life’s great lessons that will always stick with you and you can only truly appreciate when your a father looking back yourself . The apple 🍏 truly never falls far from the tree and through all the good , bad and indifferent times in my life growing up there’s always been fishing and always will be .
