Thought I would start a new thread for this year.
The river is at a fish able height today for about the second time all year. I’m busy today too typical.
Think Westie is making his first trip to the southie today fingers he posts a pic of a fish on this thread later today.
Tight lines to all (y)

Will it won't it, the drama is too much for me. Spey sounds like a good call.

I'll just have to listen to you boys for the foreseeable future as doubt Easyjet will get me up there when it rains.

Looks like rain coming for the North West as usual, but doesn't mean there will be any fish on the back of it. The beats on the Findhorn haven't reported a single fish since we were up there 3 weeks ago!

Wonder if all the missing runs will arrive in the summer

Looking forward to your report Scoops (y)

You not salmon fishing again this year Jason?
Hitting it right is hard enough when close enough to the rivers now adays
I even contemplated the Dee but was surprised to see so few availability for next week

I know Andy it's very grim, was thinking if rain up theCairngorms and got a lift might get a few fish venturing up
I've only been the odd day the past few years, and never seen much to persuade me back

Hoping to get up for a week around the beginning of August but watching how things go. It's a busy time for me, but rain and fish and flights and boss etc all have to align to make it worthwhile.

Would be good to see fish arrive on the Findhorn as fancy a few more days up there, on the Forres water though as you can come and go as you please and it's as good as anywhere on the system.

Oh, then there's the missus...

Used to do well in low water at Tilbouries just a few years back - other than that the Dee's been crap for too long.

I've dumped all my Spring lets, not worth the money or effort. Mind you, I was there with the Dee in the mid 90's. Local rods went out, fished, got fish and started the river up again. Trouble was that within a short period of time the local, supporting rods got dumped off the river.......!

Not playing that game again. If I never fished it again I wouldn't be upset.

Sounds like my lottery ticket for tomorrow might not be so bad odds after all 😂

Hope it all comes together for you 🤞🎣

Some nice water at Tillbouries,
remember a few years ago in June got a shot of the ghillies spinning rod to fish Lawson's, spanking fresh 10ish punner took a few jumps n runs and gone the bloody knot had pulled 😂

My weather watch turned out to be rubbish no lift in Sight, looking at long forecast I'm as well giving it a bash at Aberlour tomorrow as no significant rain forecast for the Esks till I'm back at work, busy next time off work so May-well be August water permitting I get down to Brechin or the Westie 😳

Had a cast for seatroot last night.
Never saw a thing.
According to my mate that i was with it was full of fish last week.
He had 2 in an hour and saw lots.
Would have sworn there wasnt a fish in the beat.
As ever the wild flowers on the southie banks are superb.
And a great sky as well.

Similar story last week. I heard stories about plenty fish further down river, and with 3 lifts of water last week my mate went up Kirrie on Saturday and never saw a thing.
He has fished the beat for nearly 40 years so knows the water and was disappointed with the outcome. The only other angler there that day, which tell its own story, caught a sea trout which was coloured.
Another worrying season

I think there has only been one fish landed in April on our Kirrie beat this season. That's it.
Worst season ever

I think you are right. I know not all fish are reported but still been poor. I've never wet a line yet up there.
No doubt some fish have made it up and lying in some of these deep corners above Gella. 🤞

There were a load of fish in the saw mill dam a while back I managed to winkle out a couple. But there were a load of dead fish through our Cortachy at the time.
So there's some up the glen but has been pish.
worst season since I started salmon fishing.
Im in Teneriefe and only about 5 degrees hotter than back home during the day at the moment.
Could be worse.
The rivers could be in spate
