Sound of an old reel...can't whack it .

My Marquis reels have served me well for years
this the no/1 I use on mt 10ft lpxe .
What a racket they make when you get a good fish on especially an early springer like this one.

I've had a wee bit criticism on the handling but it was a very lively fish and a difficult one...at one point I thought it was never going to stop.

I also use Youngs reels which are just as robust and noisy as the Marquis.

Serves you right for being too lazy to stumble down the pool after the mini leviathan.

I had guessed that much, but I felt the need to comment.

Falkus never mentioned that ?
I think you's should all have a get together and sort it out the old fashioned way...?
Back to old reels......Ard, I was warned when muttering about a visit to your parish...Alaska....to take a near silent Gulfstream & not to take the Hardy Perfect 41/4'' as it would attract the Ursus Arctos Horibillis tribe .
I was bemused that the UAH group should take a close interest in an ancient reel from the Borders. It seems they hear it and come running as to a dinner bell. ( My poor catch rate might spare me! )
Same with their cousins from the Americanus and Maritimus families.
Is this true and if not.....
Are your woods bear-lite?

Theres a childish concerted effort to "get DCH oot OUR FORUM" ?

Surprised mods havent cleaned this one up yet, oh that's right ….. the snitches are the bitches ?

DCH
I'm surprised, well perhaps that's a step too far, that it's not occurred to you that if you followed the rules and didn't post offensive material no one would ever report you. This isn't a school playground.

I can't recall you, either engaging in a meaningful debate or starting a fishing thread.
Facts are if you look up Don CurlyHorny, Don Curly Horny, Klink Eastwood , Cyclops but NOT JB SPRING I REPEAT NOT JB SORING, you will see I've started plenty fishing related threads, trips, advice and quite a few long runners in the lounge … all amicable, so salad dodger you are factually wrong
No doubt you'll reincarnate yourself, again?, under a new username.

yes I might, because the forum allows you to change your username , so if you have a problem go speak to the moderators , other than that I find your post to me very offensive.
Errrrhhhh Loop Classics are nice too. ??
Quite like the 8-some of that of The 51st
And here's a salmon on a marquis.

I agree the sound of an rachett reel is great if the fish is on a long run, but the opposite if bone fishing with a guide, it’s believed the fish are scared off with the sound on a noisy reel, some guides won’t fish with you if you don’t have a silent reel.
I've just come back from holiday to a raft of reported posts with yet more childish arguing and abuse. I have deleted a lot of posts, banned one member, however it is clear that this was NOT one-sided and I was really disappointed to see some of the extremely unpleasant posts on this thread. I will not hesitate to ban more people if this starts again. Please try to keep your interactions friendly on here, remember there is a human being behind the username and if you haven't got something civil to say, don't say it.

And here's a salmon on a marquis.
Single hander ? Marquis 8/9?......A very neat and tidy piece of fishing and a fine unfussy release.

Nooo.... did they say that? I was told that story by a charming guide in the Seychelles...and had to buy him a drink when he confessed it was a leg-pull...we'd caught plenty of bones on a shouty Shilton and adequately noisy SA Mastery and an Able .
Bones don't like noise but that's about jumping up and down and fist pumping antics when the tyro succeeds in spotting one for the first time and then landing it.
