Rod overboard

This rod and reel fell overboard at Dochfour while playing a fish in October last year. It travelled 6km down river crossing two weirs before being hooked yesterday by an honest angler whilst spinning in the Holm Mills Pool.
It was put into Graham's of Inverness to be collected by the unlucky/lucky owner.
Unfortunately, the fish wasn't still attached.

Looks like one of Ross’s rods at RJC.
it doesn’t look any worse for ware considering it’s been in the river for 5 months

That's a picture from 6 months ago, can't Imagine it will be usable now, especially the reel

Interesting. Hmmmm.:unsure::unsure:
Looks O.K. to me, I can tell you this much, if it were a Danielsson, the reel would work perfectly, no question.
However, I would have thought it would be simple enough to speak to the Dochfour ghillie who must know who the gear belongs to? I expect that to be the case?
Probably already claimed on insurance, so, then, a conundrum for an honest man?????:D:D

They know who it belongs to, I'm sure it'll make its way back to him but not sure how much use it will be after 6 months in the water and bounced downstream 6km

Its a fair effort to loose the rod while playing a fish: reminds a bit of the hooked on fishing episode with the king salmon..

If it's for sentimental reasons he wants it returned, and he hasn't had it for 6 months, then, what does it matter?
The reel will definitely be gubbed.
Would be interested in seeing what the rod and reel were like now

Well done that honest angler. (y)
I’d love to see what condition the items are in after all that time. Bet they had a hammering.

expensive mistake too
Musta been one heck of a fish .........................

Hmmm. This happened to me with my wallet once. Got it back 6 months later, but the £10'er in it was gone.

I'd be asking questions of the guy that handed it in..... ;) :)
