hello,

after introducing myself in the "New Member Introductions" area, i would like to ask a question to the wear anglers.

it seems, we will be from the 10th. to the 24th. august 24 in a cottage around frosterley.
i know nobody is a clairvoyant and i know that the water level is mostly the important thing,
but do you think, there should be a nice flyfishing for seatrout in the midle of august in this river area?

if possible i will not moving my car to go fishing. but if your experiences are, that the fishing around frosterley is not that good in august, maybe because it is to much upstream, i would try to get a ticket aroud auckland and drive a little bit downstream. but if possible i would like to stay around the cottage in frosterlay.

what are your experiences?

thank you!

lukas
If the water is a bit on the high side fish will be around Frosterley in August. If the water is on the low side in July and August take a permit for the beats around Bishop Auckland and/or Page Bank, Lukas .

A wind up Lol 😂 Shows you how easily people can be fooled.
People need to not post on illegal fishing in forums about the Wear until they have 100% proof, hear say wont suffice as hear say nearly always turns out to be exactly what it is.
Rumour ( an unofficial interesting story or piece of news that might be true or invented and quickly spreads from person to person: )
Chinese whispers:

Rumours such as these which are often fabricated and blown out of proportion are not helping the river River gain back it's cred.
I‘ve seen some really strange illegal fishing ( snatching ) two years ago directly opposite me on the wall in Durham . If it had been in Germany and in my area the guys had been had a very interesting experience…

I‘ve seen the river in the 1990ies and it was really full of fish. To be honest mostly seatrout but also a good head of salmon. But in comparison to a lot of other formally very good salmon and seatrout rivers the Wear has still a wealthy run. More salmon than seatrout nowadays but good ones.
Nevertheless the run in the autumn last year was a bit thin. Hopefully it will be better this autumn.
