Good luck and more and bigger to all those fishing the lovely River Ribble and its tributaries in 2025.
It seems that 2024 was generally a better year for salmon than 2023 (not hard !), lets hope 2025 is better again.
The trout fishing was decent and there were a tremendous number of small grayling in the upper river at least.
As ever, we must all be vigilant for signs of water pollution and anything that affects water quality, insect life and fish. In particular, I will be keeping an eye on the river bed. Thankfully, a horrible slimy mess in early May 2024 was quickly rectified by floods and higher water levels.
Look forward to hearing news from anyone venturing out for any species.

Sod all pour moi!, tried hard too. Never saw a single Salmon, saw a handful of Finnock, even had a single pull in one pool tail out. Think there was too much quality water for Salar to run on and they made the most of it!.
It was too high for me to ford the river and I know at that height of water it’s not the best for fishing, even though the colour was good and all the rubbish has been flushed through. Can only keep trying!.

I had some jobs to do at my cabin, but took my gear and had a few runs down, but touched nowt. My mate tried spinning and the same for him. Bit too fast for me still, but I agree, it looked really nice. As you say, lots of rain due, so will be right back up again. They must be loving it, it's been high for many days.

I think thats enough water for now thank you very much, owt that is to come will like as not have been and gone now. A lot cooler out there today, might be worth a shot Weds. if the rain holds off.
I think we're looking for a frost or two and some fish to drop back to get some sport now. Any more water wouldn't do the fishing any good at all now I feel. Listening to the Jungle drums sat in the hut Fri, filling the face with a growler it didn't sound all that promising from any where on the river as far as catches went.
My gears still in the car waiting putting away, tipped it down from dawn to dusk here!, so I didn't fancy a soaking just putting every thing away yesterday !.

Out yesterday on what I consider to be bob on conditions, perfik height, colour was on the money and it wasn't a bad day at all for it. I saw a fish walking to my favourite pool and then two showed as I was tying the flee on. First run through not a sausage, second run I convinced myself to fish a bigger flee as it was a tadge cooler of late and a wee bit of a conehead to get the flee down to the fish still hunkered after the big water over the weekend. Got right into the spot and the line went straight and I'd two firm pulls to the flee that came to nowt. Now I'd convinced myself any fish would have the Phatagorva flee and muller it and if I did get tugs n tweaks I'd revert to the usual small flee and get them any way after they'd shown interest. Well part one of the plan worked, swapped out to the wee Phatagorva tube and it got ignored for the rest of the day!, so part two was a failure!, my fav. all red tube was ignored too.
It was grand to be out, I saw the odd fish but not many. I eventually took the notion fish would be running rather than holding so I fished up in the water looking for runners, but it weren't to be yesterday.
Should have been on the day before I think when the water was still on the high side, but I made a call and it wasn't the best one. Did try hard and I was certain I was going to get a fish, I fished well enough, good presentation and accuracy, but any fish obviously thought different.
Might try again Friday, but I'll have to talk to the wife nicely again. Be switch rods and real wee flee's by then any way.

Glad it's not just me. I took the afternoon off work yesterday, absolutely convinced I was going to have a field day but not so much as a pull. Fish there for sure as my mate had a 16lb hen. The day before had been a bit of a bonanza but I couldn't get to the river until after 5 and failed to convert a beautiful strong draw into a fish, same too the night before on a big water. Luck is just not on my side this season so far.
