My only springer was caught in the paper mill pool on the hodder, about 1970 on the 8th of May, saw it show as I was walking past, went home for my rod and caught it first cast on a worm, lovely silver fish of around 12 lbs.

Good story I know that pool, who had the fishing rights then ?

And the Welsh Dee - late April

I noticed that last year, haven't been down yet, used to be one of the most pristine rivers in England and Wales even in summer droughts. IMO.

I met a chap who was on holiday at Masham whilst fishing 50 yards below the sewage outlet
he said the river was polluted with human waste amongst other things and I should camplain to the water authority
his work involved testing for pollutants that was twenty years ago, nothing has changed.

The only change is that it’s gotten worse

I was told four salmon poachers were spotted and caught by police at doeford bridge area hodder
