Theres been a few fish off the NW rivers this and ĺast month, seen some lovely photos of scale perfect BOS late Spring and Summer MSW fish from Border Esk, Eden, Lune and Ribble though only heard of a couple off Ribble but this weeks water will entice them in. In previous years when anglers scream 'no fish' at back end double figured coloured fish are caught and anglers ask 'where were they?' answer is in big deep lower pools in lower reaches not showing because pools are not stuffed. However get water in June and July youve a chance of catching them in their prime.

It's been reported fish have been seen dying, or dead, in the river below Hornby. The reason put forward is water temperature, and oxygen depletion.
Bad news.😢
It was reported as Oxygen depletion due to hot weather but I am lead to believe it was not, apparently pollution caused the drop in dissolved Oxygen not the conditions.

There have been a lot more than that caught on the Lune, I've seen at least twice that many from a handful of Ribble rods who fish the Lune. Thing is many of the were clean summer fish whereas on Ribble, bar 4 exceptions, have all been coloured fish that have holed up somewhere whilst many said the lower Ribble was empty. I'm not saying there have been good runs, just better and a lot think. I often wonder how many fish run up the river early on then drop back Sept/Oct and are caught middle river when spawning hormones kick in. Whilst some do colour up in estuary a majority have been in the river somewhere .
