Freestyle Gold fly

I thought I'd have a go this year - the photography is harder than tying the fly. This is my attempt:
Artificial fly Fishing lure Bait Fishing bait Insect

Tag: Oval Gold
Tail: Golden Pheasant crest
Butt: Peacock Herl
Body: Lagartan gold braid
Rib: Fine Gold wire

Golden Banana Gunn

Finally the postman arrived with gold! Well dubbing an flash.

A willie gunn templedog with the yellow hackles and fur replaces with banana. I'd stick this on if the water was running clear, its a bit less in your face than bright yellows and oranges.

So this is going to be at the whim of Mr Mortimer, promise the body is all gold dubbing 馃槄 it was just a bugger to photograph through the hackles -ostrich plume.

Torrish Samurai (dressing to follow - but tied off of a Frodin pattern pack)

Sorry Chris, nice try but no....

....you don't get to tie another and so will have to stress over the photography and go to the effort of adding the materials list as that is perfectly acceptable :p:ROFLMAO:

My first fly off 鈥楯IMMCL鈥 excellent vice鈥.thank you Jim for your prize and for sending it out to me in time for this month鈥檚 entry. Just a brilliant design and functional piece of kit鈥.just love its large footprint steady base, dependable jaws that don鈥檛 give up on the hold even when you have to angrily hack away the dressing with a razor blade when things go wrong and need to start again 馃槀.The design also allows for unobtrusive approach of dressing materials on to the hook鈥.just brilliant !!!

My entry is based around my favourite 鈥欌檊old鈥欌 colour combo of gold and burgundy red a nice change of colour from the most popular gold and orange.Have incorporated gold dubbing in to the pattern to fit the theme but it is an absolutely nightmare to use for 鈥榙isplay 鈥 purposes as it clings to the fox hair and clings to its self if you try and moisture and shape it 馃槺鈥︹nyway good luck everyone.

I think we can safely say that is off the charts. And for some 鈥榯inkering鈥 the photo is stunning. Lovely stuff Ryan, all the best, Patrick

A fair amount of thought went into this one. Then鈥.. Ryan dropped the hammer.

That鈥檚 what makes this a fun little friendly competition every month. Spark your creativity, test your skills and lay it out there.

Kudos to all鈥. A hell of a start to a new year.

took a bit of persuasion but got Logan back at the vice he was a bit down during the tying but then taking the pictures he got more interested and liked the look of it in the black light box, he really enjoyed editing the picture too and was all smiles by the time it was done hopefully he sticks with it to the end this year im trying to let him tie when its fun for him not to become a chore

You鈥檙e entry is like a fine dainty watercolour in between two masterful rich oil paintings 馃槀
Just brilliant from the three of you鈥.it鈥檚 incredible how lighting can transform detail and colour in a photograph.
