Why do ghillies always complain about them then?

Is it simply to do with their destructive nature?
I have only just noticed that the original post was made in the Kharlovka-ASR thread! From this I deduce that the problem referred to is a Russian problem....I'd Tweet Mr Trump and register a complaint through him. It may just get his attention and cause him such worry that he will nuke the area - Problem solved!

I see an otter most years sea trout fishing and although I think YOU ******* OTTER - that's that pool **@!~d then - I carry on and even if I catch a fish, it's always the otter that stands out from the evening.

I like otters.

They keep the mink away.
Thanks for the info there kramdrazzi didn't know that. I thought that Mink just killed and were afraid of nothing.

Would definately "NOT" get my vote. We are only just starting to see / hear of them returning to the rivers after being virtually wiped out in some area's over the years. The otter is a natural predator to these land unlike the likes of Mink and grey squirrel which are causing untold damage. So its a No from me.

The vast majority of people have never seen a wild otter. They are a big animal and don't take kindly to mink on their patch. To give a bit of context on average an adult dog otter weighs about twice as much as an adult dog fox.

Your right there Loxie I have never seen a real live otter, only pictures / Photos of them. What you say about their size I'm quite surprised. Looking at them you would think that they were not much bigger than a ferret or a large rabbit.
Thanks for the info.

Very difficult ohne here

There are a lot of Otters around These days Most Rivers and Streams are Thick with them now , i nearly always See one or two on the Wear when Sea trout fishing at Night they are nearly always out with their pups at that Time of Night also the Tees is nee Deep in them now if you know where to look , i dont see them as a Problem for migratory Fish But for permanent Residents Big barble , Chub , Big trout , the Numbers are dropping to many Otters can cause alot of dammage , i have Seen this First Hand on Many still Waters , large dog otters can cover 10-15 miles in a night , I've seen lakes miles away from rivers being devistated by them , also a syndicate I'm part of on a lake next to the Tees I've seen 30lb carp out on the bank with only their cheeks lips and hearts chewed out that's a £2,500 fish down the pan so you can see why people get upset , but anyways the lake has just finished being fenced in , it's the only way now !
I think there are much bigger problems on the rivers than that like **** fish ladders n monster seals !
