Hi guys.

I now have the members flies that were tied in support of the Lets Tackle Cancer charity fundraiser.

My first impressions are WoW! These are seriously good flies, and if I could break the rules (and afford it), I'd buy the lot myself.

Here are a couple of pictures

Amber Orange Organism Insect Twig

Eight lots of tubes have auctioned previously (see the LTC thread for info), raising around £235 to date if my sums add up.

Around 100 tubes and 260ish flies are still to be auctioned.

I plan to start this on Sunday, and possibly have two auctions of 12 flies per week to get the most of them out by Christmas wherever possible.

The auction lots will consist of tube sets, double/treble sets and mixed sets. There are so many I actually dont know where to start!

Apologies up front, I wont be able to acknowledge the tyers (or even name some of the patterns) due to elapsed time and missing photos on the original thread but many thanks to the contributers for generously donating their time to do this.

In the spirit auctions, I hope we raise a good amount of money for the charity but I also hope that the odd forum member can pick up a bargain.

Happy Bidding!

Well done Alan on doing this. It has been so long I can't remember the dozen or so flies I donated. Think I recognise maybe 6 in your top pic, 3 Copper Shrimps and 3 Pearly Stoats. Good luck with the auctions. Bid on the Pearly Stoats Alan;) I have had a 16, 14 and 9lb fresh spring and summer salmon on them this year that I can remember. Coming into Copper Shrimp time now so I'l start fishing them soon.

I'm the same I cant remember what I donated, I think most of mine were sold in the original lots

It's odd that I can recognise some of the tyers who donated by looking at the flies after years of folk posting flies on the forum.

Top man Allan it's very kind of you to donate your time to getting the auctions back up and running
I know a few who asked me about the auctions so I'll let them know they'll be back on, i honestly can't remember all the fly's I donated either but it was a good selection of about 50 from low water patterns, cascades, park shrimps, flamethrowers to tubes and a few tigertails

The bidding for Lots 1&2 has ended. Congratulations to Beel and Chicharito.

For future lots I've asked Admin to put a link on the SFF Facebook page. Hopefully this will reach more forum members who only use social media and stimulate more interest in the auctions.

The auction will still only be open to forum members, and bids will only be taken on the relevant forum thread so no changes there.

I aim to have the next 2 lots on the forum by Sunday at the latest

Two more lots of member flies will be going up for auction today.

This weeks lots will feature 'extremes'. There will be a set of very small flies (trebles, doubles and micro tubes), and a set of larger tubes.

Again, these are all fantastic quality.

Going forward there will be mixed sets for those that just want to top up their collections or try something different.
There will also be specialist lots such as a lot purely consisting of WG type tubes as there has been quite a lot of those donated.

Happy bidding.

LTC members flies -some facts & figures

Just an update on the LTC members fly the auctions (since the restart as some had been auctioned previously);

--- 4 lots have been won so far

--- £132.50 has been raised for either MacMillan Nurses, Marie Curie or Cancer Research

--- Average price paid per fly is £2.90 (I'm covering p&p so what you bid is what you pay)

--- Approximately another 16 lots at 2 lots of 12 flies per week have still to be listed so plenty of flies still to come. In fact there are so many that I've had to make a tracker of who's won what, check that they've paid, posted to correct address etc etc!

--- I'm attempting to ensure that all the lots consistent in quality (so no saving the good ones till the end). So don't hang around if you want some super flies.

--- Next weeks lots will be 2 lots of mixed patterns (tubes and flies) so for for folk that want to top up their boxes, or newbies wanting to start a fly box with some outstanding proven flies, this is your chance

Where do I find details of the lots on offer please Alan?
Alastair

The lots are advertised weekly on the main forum. I usually start and end auctions on a Sunday (with the exception of this week).

If you miss any auctions when they are posted, you can find them here:

Forum> SFF Supported Charities> Lets Tackle Cancer> LTC Auction Lots

Here are the auctions that have ended so far just to give you an idea:

Update on LTC forum members flies

Quick update on the LTC auction.

There have been 18 lots of flies sold so far (6 previous lots from last year, and the current 12)

One lot did not make it through the postal system so I am replacing these with another 12 from the LTC box. If I ever get a refund from the PO (?) then I will donate that amount to the charity

That, and the increase in the number of flies being auctioned in each lot (16 instead of 12) has depleted stocks somewhat.

That means that there are only 1 lot of 16 tubes and possibly 3 lots of flies left to auction. I'm aiming to get these out before Christmas.

The next lots will be a bit slower to be on the forum as I need confirmation that the current lots have arrived safely before auctioning the next set. That way if any go missing I have the stock to replace them with.

So keep a look out for the next LTC auctions, I promise some fantastic flies!
