I used to have one if you forget abut the #9 and go with the #11 you won't be to far out. Its a big heavy rod best left in the mists of time.

 

Up to 13' they are fine, the 15' was an animal

 

I still occasionally use mine. 12' and 13'

It is unlikely to have much in the way of resale value. Indeed there is a mint version currently on Ebay "buy it now" for under £130. So if you have some lines it might be worth giving it a try out as it may surprise you. It should be solidly built with a through action and a wide grain window. Also a heavy reel would help for balance. This might help.

You're right Richard there is no market for older rods. That Ebay price is wildly optimistic. I have struggled to sell some newer rods. The only rods that seem to still have a market are the big names, they have the cachet that defies prices.
The best place to sell salmon rods these days can be the coarse fishing market where they are cut down to 12' for Barbel rods.

 

I tried a 10/11 (42g) Rio afs shooting head on that rod for a friend that worked well enough but it is a heavy rod by modern standards

 

I have the same rod, it works great with a Scandi of 38g or a shooting head around 40g. It loads well and remains pleasant to cast all day.

Thank god for that ! 😂 I've just takin stock of the 15ft version , just ordered the 9/10 john norris integrated floater for it , ,

 

A 9/10 integrated floater won't be enough to load the rod and work it properly, if you've chance to swap it out for a 10/11 it'll be a far better move in the long run.

What Rennie says is correct. I'd use the 9/10 on a 13' whisker. You definitely need heavier.
