The tail looks bulky on this fly because it has 2 hackles in it.
The original has plain Jungle Cock but I used Yellow as I had just dyed a cape :)

What makes you notice such things as the tail Gary is this darn macro photography. Prior to internet forums and posting macro pictures I seldom found a fly I didn't like when I looked on my tying. Then I got myself a Sigma 1:1 macro lens and they all began to look flawed...............

Your fly looks good for my rivers.

I know what you mean Ard. Macro shows everything warts and all. The number of times I have tied a fly and when I look at the photo I notice the flaws.
In this fly I noticed a couple of the ribbing turns had buried into the wool. should have cross ribbed it
I photo them like this so that I can use them for my fly tying classes.
It does make you sharpen up your tying though.

Cracker!

I'm off to the wool shop tomorrow!

Lemon grey was a favourite on the Slaney back in the days when featherwings prevailed (so I've heard). Will tie a few up and give them a good swim this season.
