I would imagine the same way that it does in the 44 other countries that have already successfully run DRS for a good few years. It places a value on litter to make it less attractive to just throw it onto the nearest kerb. The company set up to run the DRS is set to make £57 million on cans and bottles that will not be returned
At 5 to the pound that is 285 million cans and bottles that will not be returned, how is this going to help the environment?.

Thank goodness we still have the Westminster Government, stopping this nonsense. It looks as if this will be the second time that the Westminster Government will have stopped the Scottish Executive bringing in stupid laws.It looks like the UK government will invoke the rules of the internal market bill to prevent Scotland from bringing in this scheme, that will eventually come in anyway.
One of the big issues is that if your can or plastic bottle is quashed or dented then your 20p refund is down the swanny and the can or bottle may well end up on the nearest kerb.I would imagine the same way that it does in the 44 other countries that have already successfully run DRS for a good few years. I presume that free bikes are a way of getting kids fit.And whilst I’m in the mood.
The SNP/Green government has spent almost £5 million on a flagship policy to give free bikes to school children. Despite the huge spend, just 3,650 bicycles have been handed out - meaning it has cost the equivalent of over £1,200 per bike so far.
How could they run a country? They cannot even give away bikes!
