I was on my way over to the STforum to buy it until I saw the price.

Anyone who buys a rod that breaks as often as the le cie, with no spares available needs their heads testing just saying

Its an open forumnof discussion, got nowt to do with goodwill people come here to find honest unbiased advice, would you want to buy a car prone to breaking with no spares available, anyone with sense ywould go onto honest John to read the reviews.

The le cies were thin walled blanks well known for exploding, happened to me playing fish more then once so I think theres plently of good will involved in my post.

The action was great, the rings and finish very poor and there was something plain wrong with durability of the blanks, I remember playing a good fish on the 14.8 mf and it literally exploded into bits, got the fish but they had no spares.

A real shame as they were my favourite Scandinavian styled blank

Are you trying to tell us that £500 probably isn't a great price for an old Le Cie?

😂😂

Ex demo t pacs, eben nt8s come up for that price, a rod where you cant find a spare section has no real market value, its a nice rod to cast 150 ish is a realistic price for someone to take a punt 500 is just not realistic given the le cies issue I had awful trouble getting spares and that was when they werr reasonably current

If the le cie was a more “reliable “ blank I would not have bought another salmon rod . They do everything that I wanted in a rod . I have three of them in different sizes and all have broken for no apparent reason . Once was when the salmon had just switched on and I was left high and dry too far from the car to get tackled up again .
It also makes selling a le cie second hand problematic.
I remember testing one out at Kercock one day with a Hardy Mach spey line. Lovely combination.
Lovely rod. I'd pay £150 for a trip down memory lane but no more.

Have you still got the rod?
