I use trebles when ever I can and am allowed. For my wee tube approach I'll go for partridge X1's or I really do like the X4 Frodin 'ook, but finding those is like winning the lottery. For Fly Tying its X2'bs, I do have stocks of Drury's but I myther over those too much to really believe in them.
For heavy duty tube use the Guideline terrible work really well for me and I'm a fan-but not of the price!.
As I by n large use wee tubes almost exclusively these days, I'm very settled with partridge in 14's and 12's for the Ribble any way and I do regard the 'ook as sacrificial, it gets changed for every fish and often even after a bad snag.
Most of my 20lbers have come to X1's in 14 or 12's and I have total confidence in them. For the big tube approach or all together bigger faster rivers, the same X1'S in 8 and 6 I find very reliable too.
Just be carefull before you leap in and change Tangled. The biggest cause of bent or misshapen 'ooks and lost fish is not getting the hook in past the barb!. If nigh on any 'ook dosent penetrate properly it's a lot easier to straighten it out than you may think!.
