Iv been thinking about fly fishing without a fly rod recently. I'm still getting the hang of casting and my local river has a prevailing wind that makes casting a nightmare.
Iv made this using some diy flying c parts. I thought the Francis made a similar shape to this teardrop weight so here it is, a Francis spinner;
It's definitely not the most durable spinner. Iv coated the wool with pva glue. It could be made without the blade for fly only waters. It's 10 grams so easy to cast. I'll try it out next week and I'll post up the results
nice one....ill need to look out a pic of one i made out of a flying c that lost its rubber, its black with a yellow tail like a snaelda
had it for about 5 years now!!!!
and it works especially for sea trout fir some reason
My killer seatrout lure was a purple flying tadpole. Like a devon minnow head and a flying c body with a trace like a devon and its was brilliant fished on the swing. Lost my last one on the 1st day of the season this year showing my mate how it worked in the water and need to find someone that sells them to get more.
On the Francis it's a heavy trout hook size 8. The cascades hook isn't actually well suited, I'm fairly sure it will hang down when fished. It's a sea bait hook I had lying around.
