If anyone is interested in such things there is a chap who posts some very good fishing videos on YouTube called "Craggie Fishing". He is fortunate to fish some lovely rivers in my favourite part of the World, but is also a very good angler: leagues above most YouTube wannabes. He also doesn't make his videos almost unwatchable with crap music.

For less experienced anglers he also shows just how fast you should fish and how effective a single hander and or switch is at playing a fish.

My only, mild, criticism is that he could get his fish landed even quicker if he used a net

Anyway I commend it to those who haven't seen him and hope it helps while away the winter.

Interesting few videos - where about last was he fishing? Back end looks like midge city. I was expecting hitch and sunray but all regular flies by the looks of it. Need some videos of you in action Loxie to see how this hitching / skated dry fly is done!😀

I fear my swearing would be hard to broadcast!

if you get in to his stuff he almost always has a muddler or similar on the dropper. Yes the midges bring back horrific memories. There is always a price to pay!!

He doesn't give details of where he fishes BUT bits I recognise include the Dionard and the Oykel. I think some of it was also the Inver and the Kirkaig. There are other bits I don't know. The Oykel is a bit hard to access unless you are an owner, which I suspect is a big clue to his identity as he seems to have almost unlimited access to both Upper and Lower almost all season. The Kirkaig and Inver can be accesed through Ossian, the Dionard through Gaulin estate and for the Oykel I believe there is a website but Steven Mackenzie is the man to talk to, but don't hold your breath!! The rest I don't know.

Been watching his videos since last year sometime. The size of the rivers and the way he fishes are very reminiscent of our local rivers here on the east coast of Newfoundland though there are times I think to myself “use a Bomber” when he’s casting wets into perfect dead drift dry fly water. He also uses the same rod as I do most of the time, a 9 1/2 foot Hardy NSX Ultralite.

Really good channel. He does some serious work with the single handed rod, nice to see! I also quite like how mobile he stays, which is something I try to do myself, in the belief that there aren't enough salmon in the river these days to assume I'm covering them unless I keep moving.
