General Jo Public will always vote in favour of those enticing eyes and cuddly white fluffy coats........ much more coverage of seals than salmon....no chance of a cull........those times are long bye
You can still cull seals, 43 licences were issued last year in Scotland. You might have to jump through numerous hoops of bureaucracy to get a licence though!
A bull grey seal will eat 30 to 50 lb of fish a day. Now if it is in the sea very little of that will be salmon, however, above the tide limit in a salmon river with no large course fish (carp, bream, etc) then it is all salmon and sea trout.
