I’m a huge fan of the Partridge patriots but seeing as I haven’t killed a salmon in years I now want to go barbless.
oh yeah, I also managed to bury one in my lip this season, was nearly 2 days before I found a doctor brave enough to tackle it (even then I had to talk them through how to do it).

What I like about the Partridge patriots is the strength of the hook, there’s plenty of good double figure fish and a few 20’s sprinkled in for good measure.
The hook up ratio is about as good as I’ve found and I like the shape for tying on.
So is anyone aware of a barbless hook that’s a good style and is reliably strong?

From trout fishing using barbless I’m not a fan of just squishing the barbs, it seems to detrimentally affect the hook holding compared to proper barbless.
I’ll have a hunt for some barbless patriots, not widely stocked at all but maybe if I ask nicely one of the suppliers might do a special order.
I’ll report back next season assuming I hook something!!
