  1. Traditional/Fully Dressed Patterns
Size 3 from Farlow's. Liked the very skinny wing and mixed tippet strands over - looked like there was a broken horn in there - so included them. Would do well on the N Tyne I reckon. Need to get some smaller hooks and better magnification! Dx
  2. Northern European Style Patterns
I think these are Dee Sheep. The bigger one is on a Long Range tube and wing is just over 3". The smaller is on a Eumer micro and it's about 1.5" in length. The #10 ED treble is for reference.
  3. Northern European Style Patterns
2 Usual style flies, bigger on a Copper long range tube with Copper Futurefly UFO disc. Smaller one on a #10 Ahrex double.

  5. Hairwing Fly Patterns
One from last night .I would like to get the heads smaller and neater in the way Arnold and others get theirs. Colin.
  6. Traditional/Fully Dressed Patterns
Thought it was about time I was tying smaller again. This is an old pattern from the Annan. Dx
  7. Traditional/Fully Dressed Patterns
Francis version (but with a claret throat - done it a few times with the specified blue and don't like it - there ARE versions with claret so I feel it's justified) - somewhat smaller than the specified '3 inches or more in length'. Dx

Looking for 60 euros for the lot , it's been used half a dozen times , the floater the same . I'm using a smaller and lighter set up . Postage is extra approx 10 euros. Selling together not splitting Sold now pending payment. Thanks for the interest.
  9. Traditional/Fully Dressed Patterns
This is from Ephemera (1850) though is a Blacker-invented pattern - not done one for a bit - tying smaller as previously noted. Dx
  10. Traditional/Fully Dressed Patterns
The wing is done as per PT mixed wing description. I put the whole wing apart from the roof on in one - need to develop this further as it seems the way to go for smaller flies. Dx
  11. Hairwing Fly Patterns
With apologies to James Chalmers and Davie McPhail, here's a couple of my Glenfarclas TD. The larger is approx 2.25" long and the smaller about 1.5. The large one has a 7mm FF drainer disc and the smaller a small Sean Stanton signature cone head. I've got a bit of a TD obsession atm and...

I have previously bought Stroft ABR fishing line priced £6 odd for 100 metres . It can be bought on ebay for the same price but cleverly disguised in 25 metre spools . These spools are much smaller but this is not obvious from the photograph . Never mind , we are game anglers and can afford it .
  13. Irish Shrimp Fly Patterns
Wouldn't usually fish small flies when river in a spate , usually always fish size 8 trebles , going to give these few a run in these smaller sizes this season to see how it goes
  14. General Board
Over the last maybe 20 years, I have fished with the same 2 or 3 guys who are good fishers. On our latest trip we discussed the fact that generally I catch more salmon than the others but of a lower average weight. It was suggested that I caught more smaller fish as my technique is to fish pools...

Hi I have been captivated by the smaller spate rivers in the Scottish highlands in Sutherland etc. The river inver, hope etc. I was wondering if anybody had any experience fishing them before? I know the salmon there don't get bug and tend to be grilse but I'm not fussed about catching a...
  16. Lines
Morning A friend of mine has picked up an Orvis 13' 6" and it says on the rod tube for a DT10 line. Could someone please tell me how this line rating translates into Spey and SH please? He will be using it mainly on a smaller river, so i would have thought a short head spey may be the best...
