Browsing through 'Along the Faughan Side' today and looking at the patterns of flies given in it, I still can't help but think that what we now call a Faughan Shrimp is a more modern version of Laurence Cunningham's Orange and Purple Shrimp.

Another simple fishing fly, the pot belly pig! A friend swears by this fly for autumn fishing so I thought I'd better have a go at tying some

4 fiery brown boar bristles
Dark brown bucktail taken from the back of an orange dyed tail
1 strange krystal flash, doubled
Still working at a Willie Gunn / Gunnish looking fly. I think I have trouble because I do not fish orange & black here ever so it's hard to make orange & black flies, does that make sense?
Made on rather small doubles I've had since the 1980's, I have some longer shank and intend to get creative.

Used "paprika" coloured wool as the body over orange globrite
Purple, red, orange and yellow bucktail with some flash
A simple "wooly gunn" I suppose :D
