  1. Tie of the month
Welcome to the May 2020 Tie of the Month competition. TOTM Introduction The format of the 2020 Tie of the Month competition will remain the same as it was last year as it worked so well i.e. open to everyone, a separate section for any newcomers to salmon fly tying and all you need to do for...
  2. General Board
We're half way through the month but have just 27 votes! That might be because it's hard to choose amongst a brilliantly tied selection of Irish Shrimps but please make the effort. You might even find something to copy and let's face it, right now it's beats cutting the grass yet again...

March TOTM theme: We're in Lockdown - Improvise! I was chatting to my parents this week, who are now both in their 80's, and they were telling me about the Smallpox epidemic in the early 1960's. Apparently, shopkeepers were treated like lepers because they were travelling around delivering...

  7. Tie of the month
February TOTM theme: 'A Scotsman at heart' I figured I'd risk abusing my position and your good nature by being self-centred and basing this month's tie on myself by way of introduction. I'm in my fifties and started fishing as a tender 4 year old with a dapping rod that felt like a telegraph...
  8. Tie of the month
I received a PM with a suggestion that perhaps everyone (if wanted) could get the chance to set the theme for each months tying. You know who you are but I’ll let you divulge your name if you want to. I like that idea and so if you’d like it to be adopted let me know. If more than 11 people...

I see they are now offering rods on Fishpal. That is a sign of the times especially for Sept/Oct. However, at £350 for the latter per day and last season only 20 were caught for that month they may still struggle to find takers. It is a 6 rod beat as well. FishPal - Scotland - Tweed - Junction

Took the dog for a walk up the Teign above Fingle Bridge. This is a view of Drogo pool which is below Castle Drogo. I believe that the structure on the left is a casting platform. I'm told that when there was a significant run of salmon and sea trout up the Teign this was one of the best pools...
