  1. Northern European Style Patterns
I'm told to have lots of this pattern so I'm about making all sorts ranging from Sncndi styled to more traditional types. Perhaps a bit full this one but with the waters covered with ice currently I'll make them both thick and thin and then have a look at how they swim when the thaw comes. I...

  3. Hairwing Fly Patterns
These are flies already in my boxes and in use but since the no body topic came up I thought to post pictures I have. I'm currently tying new flies and will try to make some decent photos once a good batch are completed. Currently working on Willie Gunn ties hoping they might get a look...
  4. Hairwing Fly Patterns
Inspired by FaughanPurple's stunning tubes from the weekend, I had a go at something tonight using the good old Willie Gunn colours.
  5. Shrimp Fly Patterns
Here's a bit of a play on a Spring Gold Willie Gunn but trying to use feathers rather than Bucktail (there's a little Bucktail kick at the back of the fly as a rostrum). Tight lines, Patrick

How much easier is that than a copper tube spinning in a Eumer needle!!! I love this tool  So it's just a Willie Gunn but made my own with holographic back tinsel body and holographic gold tinsel rib. Hopefully the fish will like my subtle bling...

Hi all, the darkness has descended- rods away. Just got to suffer Christmas and then almost onto the new season. Here's a black/orange/yellow type tube - tied on T tubes from Sean Stanton FnS. Note to SFF - photo upload is far from 'easy' Tight lines, Patrick

Fish from the lower Dee this afternoon. Took a size 8 copper bodied Willie Gunn. It gave a good scrap and swam away strongly on release.

Had a creative go at a WG FT, hackled Jockiescott style (pity, he's not around anymore. Learned a lot from him, even though he probably doesn't even know) I used burnt orange Tanuki guardhair to put on top of the yellow&orange bucktail+black pearl and black bucktail on top of that. A few more...

A bit of a mish mash - Monkey, Black and Yellow, Dee Ship, Bertie Dastard - a splash of Willie Gunn, and a nod to the Scandi influence. What could go wrong? Tight lines to anyone on the Tay the morrow and tight lines all for 2018!
  15. Hairwing Fly Patterns
Hi All, I got hold of some Osprey Veniard Double Hooks - nice profile but not sure of quality - tested them out with a hook version of the Willie Gunn tubes I'd done. For some reason SFF...

Spent an interesting early morning session on the reef in Mauritius today using the usual poppers and muppets for Golden Trevally, absolutely nothing which was unusual as I have had many this past week to a couple of pounds, so in the bottom of my waist bag I found a 1/2" brass tube Willie Gunn...

Hi I'm trying to identify a fly which I bought and lost recently. I believe it's a Willie Gunn variant with jungle cock and a loose gold tinsel body. Any ideas on the name / type. I was told its one of the Caledonian flies but cannot find it in there catalogue. Thanks

A fly that usually comes top of the SFF best flies list, however not a fly I use that much. (Not sure why) I fancy tying a few and need some inspiration so what's your go to Gunn? Any and all variants please!
