    Default Otter

I wonder if this has happened to anybody on this forum. Earlier this week I was fishing a sedge in failing light on my local river Otter. I hook a nice trout and while I was playing it the line tore off upstream . An otter had taken my fish and was off with his prize. Naturally it won the fight . Although I have seen and shared pools with otters over 50 years of fishing I have never had this happen.

No,never had that happen to me although I had a similar experience on the Aberdeenshire Don some years back when a medium sized trout that I had hooked, was snatched by a very much larger trout.
I almost managed to net them both but the big chap gave up his meal just as I slid the net under them.
