Hi All, I was playing with the alternative WG pattern I posted last night, I tied it again slightly tweaked - and now like that more than what I had tied and posted for TOTM - so hope you don’t mind that I swapped

This is a hybrid of a style I’ve tied previously but rather than bucktail cuff and hackle at front - I’ve gone for a β€˜Jockiescott’ style front all hackle.

Tying pattern:
Tube: 1.5 cm gold glitter and red inner.
Tag: semperfli light gold wire 0.2mm (more golden than the bright gold)
Butt: glo brite 12 green
Back body: holo gold and semperfli light gold rib
Mid Cuff: Blend of orange/yellow buck with smidge red buck - added roughly on top and beneath - with one strand each of red/orange and yellow midge flash on top. Then black bucktail cuff round- and longer than orange/yellow layer.
Front body: black floss with a rib of small UTC mirage
Wing: smidge black fox to end of tube
Front hackle 1: equal sized orange and yellow hen hackles tied in Jockiescott style; strand of olive Ripple ice fibre each side
Front Hackle 2:small black hen
JC
Gold cone

All the best, Patrick

Ps I've deleted my original post - so now there will be some random banter that won't make sense for anyone reading the thread from start to finish - so sorry for that

Double entries should be voided......

That would mean the loss of another class tyer of the WG variety......

Iain.........get him gone. πŸ˜‚

All jokes aside, nice fly Patrick

My head hurts...can't think why..I knew I should have gone for the Winkled Grobbledopper fly instead of the popular Willie Gunn  ...and I have to choose one to vote for yet..at some point..of the millions I can't decide on... ;):ROFLMAO:

Started tying this year and only just started my first few tubes last week! So what the heck thought I'd use my first TOTM entry as an excuse to try and tie my first Willie as a tube.
That's a very fine tying indeed - really neat and tidy. Carry on like that and I may have to ban you from the competition! ;)

Jimmy Gunn.JPG

Not posting with any hope of trumping the various works of art posted already this month. However, I did want to bring this varriation to the attention of the wider body of the Kirk. This was brought to my notice in the spring by Jim Le Poisson. So I call it the Jimmy Gunn. He does well with it on the Dee. It has replaced the GB WG as my first choice WG pattern. Key differences are the body is orange holographic tinsel ribbed with black wire. The head is red varnish (rather than red fluro globrite) and the wing has a splash of Rusty Olive Angel Hair....ya whit?

Dressing

Tube: Whatever your preference - the one in the picture is 1.5" Aluminium
8/0 White thread
Body: Orange Holographic tinsel
Rib: Black wire
Wing: Yellow Orange and Black bucktail mixed
Flash: Rusty Olive Angel Hair
Cheeks: Jungle Cock
Head: Red Loon Varnish

It just looks fabulous in the river. I could almost nibble it myself. To quote Gerry Cinnamon She's a Belter.

Regards

NHP

I tend not to contribute as basically, I'm a crap tyer, any way, you'd all fall about laughing and the vote would fall apart!.
I'll just say this, I'm a regular voyeur to the TOTM comp., but this one exceeds all expectations. Honestly I don't know which Ianmortimer will pick or indeed which one he couldn't pick. The stds. and imagination are as high as I've ever seen them,I'd be deliriously happy with any of them lined up in my flee box's, so much so they wouldn't get fished, just brought out to regularly oggle!.
Congrats one and all, no wonder some of you catch so many fish!.
Envious as ever, Pedro.
