Why do they go off the take there on high water
I have heard some people say that the pressure increase when the tide acts against the water flow, hard to say really. I love fishing there (especially the weir pool in very low water) but its a big issue having to loose hours of fishing time on high tide when its so expensive to fish there.

I think the main reason is the lack of flow. I have caught fish at the weir when the tide was still in but being a low tide there was still a little flow from the boxes

Some fishing there. I see a lot broke the club and government guidance in travelling.... I found it tempting to travel but I just hope the water holds until 8pm Friday night :)

It's fluctuating daily per opw guages but should settle before Fridays rain takes effect. Not sure if it will be in order for the fly.
I've been checking the levels and tobercurry forecast every hour this past few days haha. Hopefully I get a few hours on Friday night with good conditions and on Sunday again. I'll be packing spinning gear and worming gear too just incase ?

I'm booked on the weir pool for sunday and this water is surprising holding up very well. I'll be fishing east mayo on saturday which should be nice enough but anyone know if many fish are starting to hold up on the ridge yet? I see it's quite low tides for a few days. Hedging my bets but if it would be useless I hear the fishery offers a day on longer which I've never tried before.

I would avoid the weir pool if I was going. Its brilliant in very low water and crap in high. You will only be able to reach the first part as wading will be very very difficult. Save the €120 and fish East Mayo instead for €35.

The problem is, I don't think I could cancel if I want on it in the future but will give the office a ring on Wednesday and maybe see how things go

Hi everyone I'm staying in Ballina for a few days weekend after next. I fish mostly connemara and have only ever fished Cloongee on the Moy. Has anybody got any suggestions for good singlehander flywater in the area for a days fishing? Thanks in advance.

i would say the top end of the east mayo anglers water if the water levels are right! or the ballina waters if its low water ridge cathedral or spring wells

I agree, the upper parts of east mayo are a lot narrower than the rest of the moy and should be easy to cover with smaller rod. Wading in ballina will give you plenty of space for a back cast too if very low water

Hi lads anyone out west be able to advise where would be best to try this weekend after all the rain. Thinking conemara Lough inagh or Ballynahinch (Fly) or Foxford (worm/spin). I know it depends whether there is availability but assuming there is where would you head Sunday ?

The upper moy might be OK come sunday but if not it would surely be grand for spinning. No real heavy rain in the forecast I can see but things can change fast with weather

I was at Inagh last Saturday, water was about 6" too high we reckoned, not much happening and no fish between three of us; we fished Greenpoint in the morning and Derryclare butts in the afternoon
First time there and it was obvious that you really have to hit it at the right time re water levels and running (or not) fish

Fished Greenpoint on Monday, Plenty of water alright, nice spot caught a nice brownie in the rapids and rose a salmon at the buts! Conditions were very bright for most of the day would like to get another craic at it on a dull day.

I was thinking of heading to the Moy sometime in the next couple of weeks but have just seen the EMAA report for the week ended 9 August with hardly any fish being caught. Water levels were nice. Even allowing this is Auust, there seems to be a massive slowdown.

I was down last weekend and the water was perfect and clear. Had a small grilse on for a few secinds friday evening on my first run down the first pool. Thought I was in for a good weekend....
Not a touch after that with a good 10 hours fishing on Saturday and similar on Sunday. The sun was very strong both days and extremely muggy which wouldnt have helped. A bit of coloured in the water would probably have even helped.

There is fish in it, I spotted quite a few but the moy isn't getting the super run everyone is talking about. Early July was just a good build of from the drought I reckon
