Well done to that guy , that photo shot looks like it was taken from the gravenue although it was mentioned that it was caught in Higgins . There's no fish allowed to be killed on both sides of the river, from the weir down as far as swinging bridge until start of June for anyone planning to fish the river. New seasons club rule

Can you not kill them in the burn . I think so .

rainbows

Oh dear the river is stuffed with small rainbows due to fish farm escape after the flood, really spoils the Salmon fishing, was on river today and with a dropper on was getting double hookups every 5 minutes, small half pounders mostly. This will be a disaster for the river as these fish will thrive and feed on salmon parr and eggs later in season.
i wonder will they run all the other rivers that flow into the Mourne?

Speaking to a rod on the derg today who has encountered hundreds of these rainbows in the last few weeks in the Ardstraw area. Looks like they're travelling alright.

They are going to be a major problem for years to come, and only time will tell how much damage they do to the redds and small parr in the coming years . The fishing was pathetic since the big flood , with very cast your getting one of this small rainbows There is various rumours on the volume of fish that escaped , Ive heard 80-100 thousand , others say ,more .
There dosnt seem to be any plan in place by the LA to do anything about it, Immediately after the flood they should of been netting the slow flowing areas above Sion to try and get as many as possible before the started to spread throughout the system
