Out with the pin today for a quick couple of hours.
Lost several nice fish before landing this poor ol girl.
With a hole in her flank.Fought well and swam off strong.
Then the rain came down and put paid to that

Some nice tackle there, takes me back a way. Used to get some lovely Grayling in the streamy water between Topcliffe and Asenby on the River Swale, where we now have Salmon now going through there as well, I would like to have a go there again with the fly these days for Salmo, if it hasn't changed too much I know just the pool.:thumb::thumb:

Poor lady has a real hole in her side, fish are very resilient to damage - over the years I have caught both freshwater and sea fish with damage from predators - never seems to stop them? do you agree, you say she fought well.

Looks like a heron mark, I've had one this season with the same mark albeit a little more healed over, nice trotting set up and a quality hand made float :thumb:

I'd say cormorant, but the effect is much the same.
