large fish should not be a feature of the snap net catch ..they are multi winter fish ... the same fish us anglers c&r up till mid may ... wait till the suir brings forward the snap net date like the nore next season, they will clear the big springers out ... the snaps should be off the river till july .thats when the grilse arrive ..

The few fish we getting have steak net marks on them .these are nets that need to be address before anything else.its illegal fishing .snapnets have been off a month now and we seeing less fresh since .a couple of bailiff is not enough.they have to much water to cover.plus where the ifi built the bailiff yard depot .all the poacher are watching wat cars and where and what type boats go out.

Fair point. It is very depressing at the moment. Haven't seen a fish in weeks.

It's a known fact that small tides produce fish, but it allso mean steak nets can fish all tide.big tides to strong for there nets .its a sad fact now we hope for the big tides.the fish are there the rules tags are there for anglers snapnet a like.they are not been inforce strongly enough it's not bailiff fault it's the ifi and government employ more bailiff where is our licence money going . This wouldn't happen anywhere else in Europe no point promoting river fishing tourist .talks are drift lads are trying to get back on next season .that will be it.the more salmon the more tourist the more jobs simple as.

It wont make a difference what nets are on. The salmon are not getting in anyway. Fricken joke. Feck all got past the nets on the Nore this year.

The question is what can we do ? Sick of fishing hard all season and end up with ten salmon. We should join forces and see if we can influence.

I could not agree more. This is not sustainable. This river has huge economic potential ruined by a lack of vision. Nets have to stop, river needs to be watched. If we continue like this it will be gone in five years time. Anglers collectively need to make their voice heard. Clubs on the Suir : will you ever f&€@/(€& wake up !!

seen 3 fish jump the weir in clonmel today, nice spectacle to see them on their epic journey upstream, plenty of water in it now with the amount of rain that fell, (too late for the angler just in time for the salmon)
