Well people,
I am currently looking out for the above. I am looking for a good quality spinning reel and rod which would be light weight and able to manage fish up to (approx) the 20-25lb bracket in high water. Weight is always a big issue as we know in spinning so I am looking forward to all suggestions...

Thanks

5000 I think would be a decent size but depends on the size of river.

For rods look at Hardy marksman spin

Ive just bought the 10ft daiwa whisker 10 - 60 gram £150 ish! And matched it with the Shimano exage 5000, which should handle the usual visions, salmos, flying c's etc!

It seems well balanced and not heavy at all!

I use the following on the Tay in the big water:

Wychwood Truespin SLA rod (20/50 grams)
Penn Battle II reel
Braid

works fine and no back problems so far !!
