Can anybody advise if the 13 #8/9 is better with #8 or a #9? I’m guessing the #9.
I had a demo 13ft for a couple of weeks and it was a lovely match with the Gaelforce 34g Equaliser shooting head or the 34g Rio Scandi. My favourite was possibly the Gaelforce 8/9 Short Spey line. I would say its exactly what it says on the tin..and 8/9wt and a very easy rod to get on with.
Cheers Diarmid.

Like Diarmid, I also had that rod on trial for a few days. I concur full y with Diarmid on the lines that he suggests. I used the gaelforce 54ft 8/9 which was lovely on that rod, also fished with a 7/8 rio outbound at 30g which was not bad, but for relaxed fishing using a scandi head I would recommend 33/35g. It's a lovely rod to use and plays fish nicely, as I was lucky enough to get a fresh grilse when using it 😄

Well that's the first of the new rods from Ross finished and well ahead of schedule 👍
The 12'2 7/8# 7122-5, I can't wait to get a line through it 👍 and a salmo on the end 🎣

Love the natural finish to the blanks, very classy looking. Does he do trout rods as well?

Although they are not on the website he does indeed do trout rods. I posted earlier on this thread pics of a 9’6” 5wt he has made for me

I’ve just had a trawl back through and see it now thanks Neil. I like the composite handle....all very smart indeed!

It’s the first time I have had rods made for me and have enjoyed the process of choosing the look and fittings. Makes the rod even more special!

Yes its good fun having something made to your own spec.....kid in a sweetie shop type stuff. I’ve had two handed rod mades by B+W before, and more recently a couple of single handers by Steve Parkes(atomsix). Im in the market for a fast’ish 9ft’6 #6 weight now.

I have got a few rods from Ross now and nearly all of them have composite handles, can't see past the composite. Keeps the rod looking tip top for a lot longer. 👍
