I've had a look at these rods online and see a few shorter models that could just be up my street.

Would anyone know if the 11'3" model is a proper, short double hander and not a switch rod?

I have switch rods and I have a 12'6" double hander. If I could buy one rod to replace both of those, I might just be tempted! ?

The problem I have with the RJC rods is that I have Custom Loop Cross S1 rods built by Ross, 7110, 7122 and 8130 that are perfect for me and have no intention of replacing them. His work is that good he has done himself out of more sales?. Might manage to find a gap in the armoury for 1 more though
Cheers Diarmid.
I will have my RJC 7122 with me on Monday Diarmid. You're welcome to try it?

I suspect it can be whatever you want it to be.

I have a loan of his 11'3" 6wt switch and will be bringing that with me. I think you will like that?
Would love to know more about this rod. As I use a 6wt switch rod quite a bit. I suspect the 71311 will Also be an addition you want to make as the light line combined with long rod control makes for a very useful piece of kit. And then there is the 91311 which I suspect I will be getting before my river Dee trip in March. I may have to sell some rods ?

Finally got to use the 7122-5 last week and it is an excellent rod. Caught 8 fish to 10lb and very impressed. I only used one line the Rio Scandi outbound 7/8 and it’s an excellent match.
the rod is very easy to cast, and I noticed how well the fly turned over and how straight casts were. I now want the 1113-10 so will be selling a few rods. Anyone want to buy a sage rod ?

I'm liking your choice of finish! The black whippings look the part, understated elegance my wife keeps banging on about and I think that fits the bill.

Cheers andy
Thanks Andy. I am definitely happy with the understated look

His 12’2” 7wt is excellent. I was in no hurry for this rod so depends on his schedule so not really sure how quickly he can make a rod. He is very flexible but his quality is such that it will take a little time. Best way is to contact him and ask

Neil, what line are you thinking about with that new 101311-6? Did Ross give you any suggestions? Be sure to give us a report when you have a chance to cast it.

It has a wide range. Actually I am also getting an additional section which you swap out to make the rod completely different. I will be able to use a Scandi around the 640gr or with the different section a 580gr so you get a 9/10 or a 10/11 rod. A friend of mine has this set up and he says it’s excellent. Makes it the perfect travel rod for me.

Now that is intriguing! For sure report back after use!

Nice choice on the finish. That looks great!

I really don't need another rod but I cannot say I'm not tempted...

It’s hard to resist. I did sell a rod or two to justify it but you can never have enough rods. I was surprised how much I liked using a rod I had made for me, it makes it that much more special, and the 12’2” 7wt is a great fishing tool designed and made by a master rod builder who is also a fisherman. The build quality and components are beyond any mass produced rod I have owned so the 101311-6 was a no brainer for me

Unfortunately it won’t get a proper airing until the River Dee in March (Covid19 allowing) but I will very give it a good work out
