Had a bit of fine sport on my upper mid river beat this morning. 3 nice hen salmon. Was fishing deep with a 10ft fast sink tip. Looks like one of them was very lucky and has survived a close encounter with possibly a seal? A very nasty wound across the top of its head and a gash on the gill plate. Also a chunk out the bottom of its tail. All swam off strongly to go and make more salmon for us to catch in a few years.

Lost 2 salmon today both cock fish around 10lbs+ each.....then had this fish of a lifetime sea-trout easily 14lbs+ absolutely blown away. An epic battle on a 7/8 rated switch rod. The fish took a half inch copper tube on a fast tip pattern was a red flamethrower GET IN THERE!!!. the wear what a little gem man

Yep I know the feeling mate, I'm well into double figures for lost fish this year ? ?‍♂️

Water seems to be sticking at a decent level so keep at them mate.
Classic salmon takes mate little nudge and a steady draw from the reel. Give it a couple of seconds clamped the reel tight took a couple of steps backwards and really tighned into both of them. Slow lift of the rod and both were played for a couple of mins then just a slack line....gutted

There's definitely been a lot of fish lost this season when speaking to anglers. Not sure what is going on really?! soft mouths or we are just connecting with more than usual ?‍♂️ God knows! That's fishing I suppose.

Cracking sea trout Lewis. Well done and as others have said a salmon won't be far behind it lying in your net. Persistence pays

Had another session today as the water was still a good height if a little clear. Always a little harder to tempt them the clearer it gets. Anyway managed to get two to make a mistake... but it was hard work. A small cock fish and a nice fat hen. Both swam off briskly to continue on with their journey to the spawning redds.
