would be no point in entering twice you would only split your vote, the wee man was trying to get his other brother to enter as well so that would be 3 entries does anyone know what age you can start a profile up at on the forum? perhaps I could use my email address on it as he doesn't have one? but then again its also safer for him not to have one and be exposed to internet just yet

I've no idea Ryan but I have no problem in continuing as is because you make it very clear which flies are Logan's. I'm also with you on not giving access to the internet yet as it can be a brutal place!

I only realised today that I hadn’t yet put in an entry and so here’s my effort loosely based on a Willie Gunn colour wise.

tube:Tubeworx gold glitter
Thread: 6/0 uni in yellow under the gold tinsel and claret for the rest
Tag: gold oval tinsel
Tail: bleached and dyed yellow Fox squirrel
Rear body: holographic gold tinsel
Front body: black seal mixed with UV flash
Body hackle: badger dyed yellow
Rib: medium oval gold tinsel
Underwing: Unbleached grey squirrel dyed orange
Flash: crystal minnow in yellow
Over wing: black arctic fox
Flash: small gold crystal flash
Topping: peacock herl
Hackle: yellow, red and claret soft hackle folded together and wrapped as one

I left the jungle cock off as it didn’t look right with it.

Bit of late entry as I am coming to grips with the cancellation of my season that included a week on the Restigouche, B/C water on the Cascapedia, and days on the St. Jean, Bonaventure, and York.

I found this pattern on the MonkeyFlyTying blog. I subbed a few materials, but, it looks almost identical to his fly by Marcus Rietala.

Thread: UTC 70 Denier White (Black for the Head)
Tube: 40 mm White FlexiTube with two 5mm FlexiWeights
Tag: Fl. Hot Orange Floss over Silver Mylar Tinsel/Solarz BoneDry UV Epoxy
Rib: Soft Copper Wire
Body: Rear 1/3: Holographic Silver Flatbraid
Front 2/3: Pearl SLF, brushed out
Hackle: Furnace Dyed Bright Orange over Dubbing
2 Black Hen Hackles; One Before and One after Monkey
Wing: Bright Orange Arctic Fox + Orange Angel Hair
Black Finn Raccoon + Black Angel Hair
2 Applications of Psuedo-Monkey Hair + Orange Mirage Flashabou
Cheeks: Jungle Cock

Here's my offering. I suppose it's got the colours of a Park Shrimp, but it has been successful for me in high water on the lower Dee.

Front body: Black spectra dubbing
Body hackle: Orange badger

Willy gunn samurai

OK so Logan was going to tie the vaehaenaeva green samurai until he saw the willy gunn and the name was so hilarious to a 7 year old that he changed his mind he watched one of my videos and then I tied one beside him and he copied me he was scared to use the lighter himself (which is a good thing ) so I flamed down the inner tube for him to finish the fly I can barely tell the difference between his fly and my one yes this style of tying lends itself to covering up what went before but I was a very proud daddy View attachment 44562
There are impressive tying skills for such a young lad.
Congratulations to him and you can surely be proud as a dad!

I've gone for a micro Greenlander as it's something I'd like to have on the end of the line soon hopfully, when I have the chance to swing a fly.
20200531_165643.jpg

Rear cone: micro tungsten turbo cone with chartreuse ice dub over
Wing one: yellow fox pelt
Wing two: green fox pelt
Flash: yellow pearl ice wing over each underwing
Hackle: natural grizzly soft hackle
Wing three: black marble fox tail
Sides: jungle cock
Front cone: micro metallic green half turbo cone

I think it's close to the commercial offering except for the hackle, for that reason, I kept the hackle to a minimum but I'm happy with the overall proportions.

This is my favorite style of fly tying and I can't wait to see all of these flies aligned without text so I can just scroll through and marvel at them.

Fantastic bunch of tying and a great group of fellows you are for doing the work and posting such fine images!

I like the way your wing is sitting up high and proud, nice tying,

Thanks McAndy,
Reverse tied wings are back in favour with me, especially with small sparse flies.
