This fly has served me well these last few years. I don't know what it's called as I made it up for low water conditions.

My entry for this month is the Roncade. This deadly pattern is tied on a size 14 gold Edmond Drury treble. A proven winner in all water heights.

The amount of people I have meet fishing the roncade over the last few years is amazing, it's become popular far and wide. Nice tying, my only comment would be Ron's hackle is more sprung.

Cheers andy

Entries now closed. I will get the poll and new competition up shortly but I may be a little delayed this month as we have just found out our dog is terminally ill :(
Aww Iain, in so sorry to hear that. No rush. I'm sure we'll all be very understanding.

Damn I missed the deadline, first time trying to enter and couldn’t figure out how to upload my picture. A way seeing as I have tied a fly I thought I would share it just for fun.

It’s an Ailsa’s Elver as per an article in T&S Aug 2012. Hopefully it will do the business on the Spey next month.

Dressing:
Aluminium tube - mine is 1 1/4 inch
Throat - blue arctic fox
Under wing - black arctic fox, red crystal flash and red holo flash about over
Over wing - black goat with silver Krystal flash and peacock heels over
Sides - vulturine guinea fowl
Cheeks - jungle cock

That's a nice looking fly and not one I've seen before. With that standard of tying I hope we see an entry for the July comp. Thanks for sharing it.

Sorry for the delay guys and thanks for the kind words. Normal service shall now be resumed with the July competition now posted. I'll get the poll up for the June competition by the end of today too. Thanks for bearing with me!

Sammy came home with us yesterday having been CT scanned to find a very big cancerous mass in his left lung. That's what was causing his short breath and wretching. The only options are chemo which has a very low success rate on lung cancer, especially for a big dog, or a major operation with no guarantee of it giving him more than a few months. As he's a 12 year old Labrador Retriever, symptomatic and has leaking heart valves the vet also doesn't think that's a good option, advice I agree with. So as it stands we'll love him as long as we can, feed him steak, crisps or anything else he enjoys as it won't make much difference other than to him enjoying life, and let things take there natural course which could be just a week or two. One of those circle of life things you know is coming but hope never to arrive!

Thanks Ian, I will have a go in the July comp. Very sorry to hear about your dog - terrible to see part of the family coming to the end of their life. Go buy some big steaks for Sammy.

Well that was a difficult one for people to choose for although we have a very clear winner our in front and a close runner up, we have four people that just could not be separated crowded onto the podium for third place! Even I managed to gather a single vote due to the confusion, either that or someone miss clicked! So without further ado we have <drum roll> ...

1st place and 10 points, Jockiescott with a simple wee fly to look at but a real pain in the posterior to get the proportions and neatness. Congrats sir

2nd place and 8 points, DrPatrickT. I'm not sure if these are flies or a bit of expensive artwork! Stunning creations matched only by the quality of photography!

3rd place and 7 points each go to: Woodsy, Perrypoker, Logan Houston, mc andy and you can see where the voters were going with that because who wouldn't want one of those in the box!

I know it keeps getting said but the quality of the flies on show by everyone really is superb and the quality of photography just gets better and better every month although I think DrPatrickT may just have set the bar onto its highest notch! The effort and quality in every entry really does make this worthwhile and so thanks one and all.
