Very nice. The sparseness really works well.

Logans entry this time is the green but green head gold cascade

gold oval
orange and yellow bucktail
orange crystal hair
glo btile 11
chartreuse wire
gold holo
black floss
gold lite brite
black fox
orange badger
yellow badger
green cone

the hackles proved very frustrating as his hands arent strong enough to easily open the hackle pliers but we got there in the end

I have a groan
Ryan Houston has 2 entries on this month, ? 2 great entries I gotta say,
On the 2nd entry it states Logans entry ?

I was lead to believe 1 entry only ?
Can You explain

Ryan has an 8 year old son - Logan - ( who is a braw tyer) but Ryan has to load up his entry for him. Logan isn’t of a suitable age to be allowed on the forum himself so has to get his dad to do it.

Gutted I'm going to miss this one as I'll not be home til mid May.
I have even picked a cascade variant I would have tied up 😂
Lovely flies on display as always👍
Any new materials to report from the ‘retreat’ CB - sparkly unicorn tail braid, mystic flash or Papua New Guinean rain forest sparkle glister. We’ll find out when you are home and the secrets come out 😀

can you not ask one of the family to dig out a cascade of sorts from your fly box and get it photo’d so at least you get your entry points? I know you’d like to give us all an advantage but if you can get your entry points it’ll keep you in the running?

All the best, Patrick

Torn between the Blue Wing Cascade and a Calvin Cascade Variant.

Went with the Calvin Cascade for something a bit different as really enjoying the range of variants this month.

Tag - green wire
Tail - orange and red bucktail with magenta finn raccoon
Rear body - Calvin dubbing
Front body - black floss
Wing - orange arctic fox
Rear hackle - orange cock saddle
Front hackle - red badger hackle

The cascades aren't my cup of tea, but I thought that as I tied about dozen of those back in January, this would be now easier. It wasn't 😂

Ok, here's one kind of "Green & Grey Cascade"

Green&GreyCascade.jpg

Hook: Mustad DL71UBLN #6
Thread: white Veevus 16/0
Tag: fine oval silver tinsel, and fl. green UTC ultra thread
Tail: grey, chartreuse green, a couple of strands of white bucktail, and Krinkle mirror flash on both sides of the tail
Body: flat silver tinsel (1/2) and lime green silk (1/2)
Ribs: fine oval silver tinsel
Wing: 1/2 grey and 1/2 black fox, and Krinkle mirror flash on both sides of the wing
Hackles: grey hen and light green rooster (couldn't find grey rooster even I know I have it somewhere 🤬)
Head: a couple of rounds of fl. green UTC ultra thread and grey Uni-Thread 8/0.

As the Italians would say....... Fan....tas....tico!

Lovely cascade.
Thank you Snap T14. Was wondering about adding to this fly some krystal flash as it's present in the original pattern, but now I think this fly is bright enough without it.
