The fish farm in Argyll has been temporarily secured after its seabed anchors dislodged in high winds.
Storms not exactly unusual on the west coast, this one has been well publicised for at least five days, so surely Mowi must have regular updates from the Met Office or other weather advisors and with this info surely somebody checked the integrity of the pens and anchors. The pens and anchors, should be "Suitably maintained" so when were they last checked? were they deemed suitable and appropriate for expected conditions.
We now know the answer, yet again weather to blame Oops sorry we will investigate and prevent such a incident in the future, but damage is done and all the west coast and firth of Clyde fisheries now waiting on the impact.
Lets hope all the planning departments in Ayrshire and firth of Clyde areas are watching this fiasco with a view to binning and rejecting the applications for more fish farms that are sitting with them.
