I closed this because I bought one in the states.

Anyone have a JLH Salmon gathering dust? Looking for a clean rash free example so PM if you have one please.

I'm looking for the Gunmetal finish not the Golden JLH

How about finding out if it is in good condition and if he'll sell, for how much please. I have another being inquired after also but welcome variety :)

Condition is important to me, I've seen a lot of reels that I wouldn't use even if free and I'm sure you understand that.

Thanks,

Ard

Yes all Hardys are up a bit it seems. This occurred in 2007 when they announced production in S. Korea. Back then I owned a rather extensive collection and when the Alnwick reels were selling at double & triple what I had paid I sold the lot. That was when Pay Pal was free and eBay charged a flat 2.3% of the total plus a dollar for images if you wanted more than 4 of them.

I had Perfects - the entire Lightweight Series (including 2 St. Andrew's) and the entire Marquis Series most were unused with box papers and reel cases. I bought them at cost from fly shops all over America when I traveled. They sold cheap because all the Americans wanted the new stuff, Ross Reels, Glavan, and others, Hardy reels sat in display cases gathering dust until I spotted them.

When that sales spike happened I recovered my investment plus thousands. Imagine selling Hardy made Orvis CFO reels for $425.00 or more that you paid $140.00 for? I had a bunch of those including numbered screw backs. What I didn't have were the Ultralight Disc reels like the JLH. The only late 20th century reels I have are a pair of those Viscount LA Disc reels that are quite nice. I still have my original Hardy Featherweight Circa 1977 and a Princess I got in the early 80's as well as others that didn't sell.

That's why my screen name was Hardyreels, because I had about 60 of them sitting around here ;)

I use the ultralite disc as my main reel for double handers and its a joy to use.
Also most of my other reels get gravel rash pretty quickly but the hardy seems good as new. Maybe the coating is tougher or i just take better care of it.

Also if scouring ebay searching for "ultralight" rather than "ultralite" sometimes throws up a missed bargain.
