I can't find any reviews on this reel from genuine users as opposed to promoters. Does anyone have one thats had reasonable use - would you recommend?

Also does it come with a decent reel case?

Its for a 13' 8/9 rod

Thanks

I have one, very nice reel, good strong drag and well made. So good I have all 4 sizes.

Case is a fold over canvas type one, fairly good but not hard like some.

Probably doon the water.
I use the smaller size 6/8... excellent.(y)
Used it for a couple of years and can't fault it.
Yes I would recommend... a bargain at the Norris price!
120mm might seem big, for your 13footer, but it's still light enough! (and mucho capacity for future rods)
You can see the dimensions on the Guideline website.

Thanks both. Its the JN site that got me thinking and I really like the dark Azure which typically he only has in the bigger 1113! Its either that or the lamson Guru which has also caught my eye. True 1st world problem!

I have the 79DH in the Halo also, use it alot on single handers for grilse and my switch rod. Another cracking reel with more than enough drag.

Guideline make great reels, even the die-cast FAVO and Reach reels are cracking for the money. I have the Favo also for the pike. I will say I did have a drag issue but was sorted with Guideline Support within 11 days (Ireland to Sweden)

Yep, great reel, landed fish to 30lbs on it, used it for 2 years, bought it at a reduce number from j.N. At Penrith., used it on a 13ft Zenith.

Apologies! I just realised it was the HD version you were meaning.
It was the normal one I was thinking of.
I've never fancied the solid HD type!

Actually it was very useful because I hadn’t considered the ‘standard’ version but now I am! Thanks

Lamson Guru also taking your fancy? Beautiful elegant design engineering.
Yes I really like the Lamson reels. I have a Litespeed Hard Alox for my #5 GR80 trout outfit and it’s so light you’d hardly know it was there and I really like the look too. Some of the Lamsons I think are awful in design but when they get it right...

They get it wrong when they make it too fussy. Their trademark was always elegant simplicity and the Guru is an minimalist classic, an enduring great reel.

On the other hand, there is nothing like a Danielsson for the money.

I don’t disagree although I’m after a little flash or hint of blue for this reel to create a perfectly coordinated set up hence being attracted to those two 😉

If you want an extreme version of the quality of Danielsson's customer service, try this example:

order a Control 7/12, delivered inside 72 hours (in early post-BREXIT period)
Found it was too small, emailed Danielsson, they said send it back ASP
Posted to Sweden
Arrives at their mail collection point, they pick it up at 1130
By 1400 they have put the replacement 8/13 with DHL
It arrives in Yorkshire 44 hours later

They didn't charge me a penny for the P&P

I bought a Danielsson 8/12, ordered it Sunday had it Tuesday at 11 o'clock.
Can't complain about their Customer Service.
I also have a vosso 6/8.
Comparing the two I'd go with the Vosso over the Danielsson, there are a few little niggly things that don't sit right with the Danielson, asthecially it's not the same as the Vosso there are posi drive screws holding the reel seat and the handle instead of flat head on the Danielsson.
And another small thing I paid for the Danielsson 386 euros with a spare spool delivered it was taking out of the bank a/c a few days later I noticed some sort of charge 7 or 8 euros on the a/c I presume it has something to do with the order of the reel and was never mentioned when the reel was purchased.
It's not about the 7 or 8 bucks its the principal.

When I see photos of the raised spool rim sitting proud of the body I think of a bean tin!
Sorry... back to Vosso
