We are pleased to announce our first competition of 2021, and it’s a great one!

We have a selection of images from behind the scenes of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. We’d like you to come up with your funniest captions for the images below. Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer have very kindly agreed to judge the competition, so get your comedy thinking caps on!

There are three £100 vouchers for Thomas Turner up for grabs. Thomas Turner is a leading vintage and contemporary classic fishing tackle store, so this is a great opportunity to add to your tackle collection.

We have posted the images on three of our forum sites: the UK Fly Fishing Forum, Salmon Fishing Forum, and Fishing Magic forum. Each forum has different images, and you can enter as many times as you like, on all three forums. To enter, just reply to the competition thread on the forum, and your entry will be included.

Ghillie: Is he alright up there?
Paul: Yeah. He thinks he’s surfing.
Ghillie: Ok, then... if you’re sure.
Paul: ‘course I’m sure. Anyway,
he’s insured.
Ghillie: How much for? That’s if
you don’t mind me asking.
Paul: Don’t know, offhand.
A few million, at least. Why?
Ghillie: Well... this is an old boat,
and I’m nearing retirement, so...
Paul: Murder him?
Ghillie: Oh, no! Nothing like that.
It’s just that, we could divvy up...
all three of us.
Paul: I like your thinking, but he’s
a mate of mine. He’s like a brother.
Ghillie: Oh, right! No probs. I get it.
Forget I even mentioned it.
Paul: Mentioned what?
Ghillie: Cheers Paul. You’re a
proper geyser. Real old-school.

Bob: Why is my trout making noises when it jumps out of the river?
Paul: Because it’s a duck, Bob.
Bob: Not a trout then?
Paul: Not a trout.
