This is another of my own designed rods. Its a 13'6 9/10
I've used burnt cork to make the diamonds in the top handle which is mainly flor with a ring of blue composite cork at the tops and bottoms of both handles with a ring of light black thunder cactus.
The butt is light black thunder cactus with blue rings and thin cuts of nightfall cork. I've also used blue rubberised cork for the butt and tops and bottoms of both handles and fitted a down locking alps trilock reel seat.
I've used copper metallic thread and crossed the thread to give me black diamonds in the pattern.
Snowed In again today so cracking on.
I've nearly finished building another 12'9 and will post up a thread probably tomorrow on it.
I'm away to start building another couple trout rods whilst I'm waiting on getting my spinning blanks back. I should be building them in next couple of weeks.

That's stunning Gordon! Is that the handle you were turning yesterday?
No mate. It was the 12'9 I turned yesterday. Pm me your mobile no Andy as I went to send you pics but it was a land line you phoned me off.
You have the choice of this rod or the other 13'6 with the full black thunder cactus handle for a shot mate. This ones handle us good bit lighter because of the flor.
This is the handle I turned yesterday
12'9 is going all purple

Nice work Gordon...I'm eager to try out these rods after trying the loop cross out the other day.
Not keen on the Scotland flag mind 🤣
